Brief Biographical Sketch:

I am a huge space nerd. I own two telescopes, my room is covered with space posters, I have a 1-meter long model of the Saturn V on my desk... you get the idea.

I am also a video game enthusiast, and I especially enjoy simulation and management style games (Kerbal Space Program, Rimworld, Universe Sandbox, etc.)

In addition to this, I really like teaching people about science. I worked at a space museum (Chabot Space & Science Center) or 4 years explaining cool science concepts to visitors.

S268: A "Crash" Course in Rocketry with Kerbal Space Program in Splash Spring 2018 (Feb. 24, 2018)
Want to learn rocket science by playing a videogame? In this class, we will use Kerbal Space Program (a rocketry and spaceflight simulator) to learn about how we get to space. In the first hour, we will investigate how rockets work and use some basic physics to describe rocket trajectories, orbits, and propulsion. We will also look at the advantages and disadvantages of several alternatives to conventional rockets with regards to long-term space travel and colonization. The second half of the class will involve playing around in Kerbal Space Program to try to see the physics we discussed earlier in action.
